Executive Director (Hiring for 2026-2027): El Rio Community School serves over 350 students in grades TK-8, and grew to its full TK-8 grade span in the 2025-26 school year. As we continue to grow and prepare for our first charter renewal in 2027-28, El Rio is seeking a committed and collaborative school leader eager and prepared to work with an invested community of teachers, parents, and students to take El Rio to foster a stable and thriving school environment.

Director of Operations (Hiring for 2026-27): The Director of Operations performs administrative and supervisory work in the non-academic operations of the school. This includes planning, coordinating and supervising the day-to-day business operations of a school office, and serves as administrative aide to the Executive Director, relieving them of administrative details. Key tasks include financial management and reporting, purchasing, event planning and management, student transportation, the food service program, and facilities. The DOO works to ensure the operational success of the organization, ensure contractual and regulatory requirements are met, and that resources are managed effectively.

Director of School Culture (Hiring for 2026-27): El Rio Community School, a Waldorf-inspired TK-8 public charter school, is seeking a Director of School Culture (DSC) to create and maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment and school culture. The DSC will serve as a leader, mentor, and collaborator for faculty and staff, developing and leading systems that ensure that the school culture is grounded in El Rio’s commitment to DEIB principles and supports the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development of all of our students. This role helps to create and sustain a culture that aligns with the 7 Core Principles of Waldorf, prioritizing a child-centered, developmentally appropriate approach to child care and discipline that is also inclusive, just and diverse. The DSC reports directly to the Executive Director and is part of the school Leadership Team.

Director of Instruction and Pedagogy (Hiring for 2026-2027): The Waldorf Director of Instruction and Pedagogy will serve as an instructional leader, mentor, and collaborator for faculty, ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with both Waldorf education principles and state standards through the Gradalis compendium used by the school. This position involves regular classroom observation, coaching, curriculum development support, and oversight of teacher professional development. 

Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Teachers (Hiring for 2026-2027): El Rio Community School seeks a compassionate, organized, and collaborative Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Teacher to support students with learning differences in accessing a developmentally aligned, Waldorf-inspired public school education. The RSP Teacher plays a vital role in supporting students with IEPs by developing and delivering individualized instruction, collaborating with classroom teachers, and guiding families through the special education process. The ideal candidate values whole-child education, believes in the potential of every student, and can balance compliance with creativity in meeting student needs. Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.

Classroom Teachers (Hiring for 2026-2027): We seek candidates with warmth, patience, enthusiasm, joy, and the ability to use Waldorf methods to make the curriculum and naturally embedded state standards come alive for the children. The ideal candidate will be a loving authority figure to the children, and balance high academic standards, the ability to respect and engender the respect of students, the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to engage students of all temperaments and ability levels, and the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and parents. Currently hiring for Early Childhood Education (TK & K)Elementary, and Middle School positions.

Lead Food Service Coordinator (Immediate): This role manages food service duties as well as lunch service communication with parents and third party vendors. This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday. Under general supervision from the Director of Operations, leads and participates in the work of an additional food service worker in preparing, setting up and serving foods to students on the El Rio Campus. Oversees and participates in cleaning food service surfaces and equipment; is responsible for ordering extra food or supplies, resolving problems and answering questions regarding the food service program at that site; and performing related work as required.

After School Program Coordinator (Immediate): The Aftercare Coordinator leads the planning, supervision, and daily operations of the school’s aftercare program. This includes directly supervising a team of Aftercare Assistants, maintaining a safe and enriching environment for students, and coordinating schedules, programming, and communication with staff and families.

After School Programs Teaching Assistants (Immediate): Help supervise our TK through 7th grade students in grade-level cohorts after school, engaging them in artistic activities, outdoor games, and more. Must be available 12:30-5:30PM, Monday through Thursday and 11:30-5:30PM Fridays. Recess shifts are available as training with the option to pick up in addition to above hours. Hourly rate starts at $20/hour.

Substitute Teachers for Grades TK-8th: We occasionally need substitutes to provide instructional and classroom management support for absent teachers - lesson plans are provided. A substitute teaching permit or regular CA teaching is required.
